Read the Rules - Please

We have received some really great entries this  year and I'm excited to post them here.  (I'll do it as soon as the judges have had a chance to do their thing).

I did want to remind anyone participating in the program to make sure they carefully read the rules for the category they are entering.

Here are a few things we've noticed this year.

FOR ALL PROJECTS
  • Check your paperwork make sure both the student and parent have signed the student entry form
  • Follow the rules for your category
  • Fill out a Utah Artists Statement form, the judges use this form to see why you did what you did, it can really help them to understand your piece.   EVERY entry needs one.
  • Write your name on the back of everything, NOT the front.
  • If you take a picture of anyone else or record, their voice, get a signed consent form.

Photography
  • watch your size, it can't be more than 11 x 14 inches
  • Don't add any words to your photo
  • Write your name of the back of your photo and mount it on something (cardboard or poster board work fine)
  • Don't put your photo in a frame, they are not allowed
  • Make sure you write the size down on the entry form
  • If you take a picture of anyone else or record, their voice, get a signed consent form.
Visual Art
  • It's a good ideas to mount your picture on some thing (again cardboard or poster board work, but check the rules for other ideas)
  • Don't write your name of the front of the picture, but do put it on the back
  • Make sure you write the size down on the entry form
  • Don't put your picture on anything thicker than 3/8 of an inch.
  • Don't frame your picture
3D
  • Take pictures at least one with a ruler next to it so the judges can see the size of your project, put them on a CD, read the entry form for the correct file formats
  • Print a picture to attach to your entry form
  • Make sure your follow the rules for what should be written on the CD and how it should be stored (if you win at the local  level/ our school) only the CD is sent forward so it's really important
  • Protect your artwork, no loose pieces are allowed, if it's really fragile find a way to make it stronger or put it in a box or something to keep it safe.  If you are in 6th grade your artwork will be judged at Sandridge and we REALLY want it to make it there safe.
Literature
  • Write your name of the back of each one of your copies (3 are required) NOT on the front
